Fortress™ Product Quality
At Fortress™, quality is the foundation of everything we build. Every product is manufactured using premium Solid Cellular PVC, selected for its exceptional durability, precision, and long-term performance in even the harshest environments. Unlike traditional wood products, Fortress™ products will not rot, warp, swell, split, rust, or attract termites, making them ideal for Bermuda, the Caribbean, and other coastal regions. Each product is designed with careful attention to detail, precision-machined using modern CNC technology, and assembled with high-quality marine-grade stainless steel hardware where required. From custom kitchens and cabinetry to kiosks, storage buildings, outdoor furniture, and architectural products, every Fortress™ product is built to deliver outstanding strength, beautiful craftsmanship, and years of maintenance-free performance. Our commitment is simple: build products once, build them right, and build them to last.
A density of 0.546 g/cm³ (34.1 lb/ft³ or about 546 kg/m³) would generally be considered a good quality, medium-high density Cellular PVC sheet, particularly for structural fabrication such as your Fortress™ products.
Our cellular PVC takes in essentially 0% water weight (less than 0.77% by weight per ASTM D570) when submerged overnight. Because cellular PVC has a closed-cell structure with no wood fibers or open pores, water cannot penetrate or saturate the material. [1, 2]
Here's how it compares:
| Density | Quality | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| 0.40–0.45 g/cm³ | Economy | Signs, trim, displays |
| 0.45–0.50 g/cm³ | Standard | General millwork, trim |
| 0.52–0.56 g/cm³ | Premium | Cabinetry, furniture, structural fabrication |
| 0.58–0.65 g/cm³ | Heavy-duty | Specialty industrial applications |
- Compression strength: As high as practical (ideally 1,000–1,500 psi or higher)
- Screw withdrawal strength: High enough for repeated assembly and long-term fastening
- Fire rating: ASTM E84 Class A
For Fortress™ Products
A density of 0.546 offers an excellent balance of:
- ✔ High screw-holding strength
- ✔ Good stiffness and rigidity
- ✔ Excellent machinability
- ✔ Smooth surface finish for painting or laminating
- ✔ Strong glue and weld joints
- ✔ Better dent resistance than lower-density boards
- ✔ Lower weight than materials like plywood or HDPE
It is well suited for:
- Storage Buildings
- Vendor Carts
- Outdoor Kitchens
- Reception Desks
- Furniture
- Kiosks
- Window Shutters
- Cabinet Doors
- Architectural Products
- Outdoor Closets
A density of 0.546 g/cm³ is exactly in the range expected for a premium structural Cellular PVC sheet suitable for high-quality cabinetry, kiosks, storage buildings, and the other Fortress™ products.
